God Is Not a Prosperity System

But remember this—if you give little, you will get little. A farmer who plants just a few seeds will get only a small crop, but if he plants much, he will reap much. Everyone must make up his own mind as to how much he should give. Don’t force anyone to give more than he really wants to, for cheerful givers are the ones God prizes. God is able to make it up to you by giving you everything you need and more so that there will not only be enough for your own needs but plenty left over to give joyfully to others. It is as the Scriptures say: “The godly man gives generously to the poor. His good deeds will be an honor to him forever.” For God, who gives seed to the farmer to plant, and later on good crops to harvest and eat, will give you more and more seed to plant and will make it grow so that you can give away more and more fruit from your harvest. (2 Corinthians 9:6-10 TLB)

Men will set goals for themselves and live all their days to reach their goals. God gives out blessings to those whose hearts are right because they walk with God. God’s blessings are always greater than men’s accomplishments. Some who half-way believe God mix the two, blessings and goals and they might tip God if they have to. Many people think they can just give to God a kick back and God is obligated to give a return on their giving like a Ponzi scheme. God is not the owner of a Heavenly Ponzi scheme. That’s how some people treat God because they give with an earthly attitude. Giving to God with earthly attitudes is nothing but slot machine faith. Eternal Life is a fellowship and a partnership where we walk with God and He walks with us and when God walks with us, we get blessed and God walking with us is why we are blessed. Some think God is obligated to give back to them when they give to Him but part of the lesson of the Bible is God looks at our hearts to see our attitudes. For example the Bible says, God loves a cheerful giver. (2 Corinthians 9:7) I give to others as a way of loving them. I will celebrate the act of tithing because it is me celebrating God’s lordship over my life. It is my Honor to tithe to such a wonderful glorious being. To think He knows me, and I am getting to know Him. How amazing!

He who has pity on the poor lends unto the Lord an He will pay back what he has given. (Proverbs 19:17 NKJV)

He is my wonderful Lord, Savior, Counselor, Mighty God, and Prince of Peace. He is everything that my soul could ever long for — everything I wanted and so much more. More than amazing, more than marvelous, more than miraculous could ever be.  He’s more wonderful, that is what Jesus is to me.

He goes beyond my highest hopes and fondest dreams. He is everything that my soul could ever long for — everything I wanted and so much more. More than amazing, more than marvelous, more than miraculous could ever be. He more than wonderful, That’s what Jesus is to me.

When God is worshipped with a true heart, He pours out more than you could ever come close to giving Him. He is a God of abundance, but He is not a God that you can fool and manipulate with your piddly hand out of a tithe. He is not a beggar on the street that you chuck some money to. He doesn’t need your money. He only needs you to walk with Him in His love.

The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself. (Proverbs 11:25 nkjv)

How dare you say as you give your very small  (minuscule) tithe that God now owes you. Wow, I guess you need a new lesson in: Who is God and who God  is NOT. How disrespectful to think that you did something for God first. God is your real source and if you are His channel of blessing others, you should know He is your source.

He is the one that gave you that money with which to tithe, and those hands with which to work, etc.  I know people born deformed and without hands that would love to trade places with you and they would celebrate God because they have done without the abilities we possess and would be very grateful to be fully functioning much more than we are.

O give thanks unto the LORD, for He is good: for His mercy endures forever. (Psalm 107:1)

When one gives to God with slot machine faith/mentality, expecting God to give back to them just because they gave Him, then money is their real god and they are just deceiving themselves. Many do that for decades and then wonder why the Bible doesn’t work. Well, they are worshipping money but tithing to God. How hypocritical! Giving to God with the purpose of receiving more money in return is not real faith and it’s not real worship. When the heart is focused on money and thinks it is prosperity, it is really the prosperity of fools dressed up like faith and using God as a slot machine or a Ponzi scheme. Check your heart and see if You are treating God as if He has little worth to you. The reason that God multiplies your seed you sow with a cheerful heart is because anything that touches God grows and multiplies. God is such a blesser that He cannot help creating abundance where very little was.  Look at the Earth. There was very little here when when the world began, but God put all the raw materials in the earth at the beginning for us so that today we can make many magnificent things. Everything you can see above ground came out of the ground. By the way, those ideas for all those things originated with God because he is still a creator of every good gift and always will be.

Yes, God will give you much so that you can bless much, and when you take your gifts to those who need them they will break out into thanksgiving and praise to God for your help. That pleases God. So two good things happen as a result of your gifts—those in need are helped, and they overflow with thanks to God. Those you help will be glad not only because of your generous gifts to themselves and to others, but they will praise God for this proof that your deeds are as good as your doctrine. And they will pray for you with deep fervor and feeling because of the wonderful grace of God shown through you. (2 Corinthians 9:11-14 TLB)

God is not a slot machine. You will always get more back from God than you give to Him. Truly, when you give your first fruit, which is called the tithe, with a grateful, cheerful heart, as God receives it from you, God has promised to multiply back to you. God is a God of lavish abundance. When God pays His bills, He always leaves the excess with you. The scripture says, just like the rain falls down from Heaven and waters the earth so that it is cleansed and brings forth food and great joy comes during the harvest, even so when God’s blessings fall down upon you and you give back unto God so His ministry can blossom, many thanksgivings go up to God for your obedience unto Him. God is pleased by your faith in Him and continues to bless you so you can continue to be a blessing. While sowing and reaping may be an earthly principle and not a heavenly principle, giving and receiving with love IS a heavenly principle. Giving is the crown of love and God loves us all. The Bible says He makes the rain to fall upon the just and the unjust and He makes the sun to shine on the just and the unjust. God is not a prosperity system but God blesses those who walk with him in the obedience of His love.

Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” (Luke 6:37-38)

When I send my children to the store, I say, “please pick me up some bread, milk, and eggs and keep the change.” Whenever my daughter asks for something, I usually give more than she asks for because a gracious person finds it impossible to just give what they ask for. I know they have other needs as well. What parent doesn’t give generously to their children. and the grandchildren? Well that goes into the exponential realm. Hahaha. If you just live for yourself and don’t care about anyone else, then you are a dead tree without good fruit and God wants fruitful trees in His garden. You might accomplish a few great feats and reach a few goals, but God’s plan for you life is to bless you so you can be a blessing just like fruitful trees bear good fruit for everyone around. God doesn’t just drop your blessings out of Heaven with parachutes. God’s blessings comes through people who will distribute to people. Helping others and giving to others in need as the Lord leads you to is part of the divine program of prosperity. It is love in action and Heaven is the City of God’s love.

“When you do something for someone else, don’t call attention to yourself. You’ve seen them in action, I’m sure—‘play-actors’ I call them—treating prayer meeting and street corner alike as a stage, acting compassionate as long as someone is watching, playing to the crowds. They get applause, true, but that’s all they get. When you help someone out, don’t think about how it looks. Just do it—quietly and unobtrusively. That is the way your God, who conceived you in love, working behind the scenes, helps you out. “And when you come before God, don’t turn that into a theatrical production either. All these people making a regular show out of their prayers, hoping for fifteen minutes of fame! Do you think God sits in a box seat? (Matthew 6:5)

God wants to bless you but not just so you can live for yourself and produce nothing good for God. God wants to bless us as parents more than we can imagine, even to the point that our children would wish they were the grandchildren at times. In our hearts we should be happy to be a blessing instead of just doing all the correcting and instructing and reproving.  We get to put on the hat of the benevolent giver and sit back and enjoy.  I think God our Heavenly Father wanted us to feel that experience before leaving earth. In Heaven, we shall be praising Him forever. Walking with God, whether in Heaven or earth, is not prosperity system,  but rather it is the fellowship of love between the Heavenly Father and his kids, and Eternity is supposed to begin before Time runs out. Those who live to heap up treasure for themselves and produce nothing good for God, they already have their reward and it won’t last long.

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthew 6:19-21)

True prosperity is just an outgrowth of your close relationship with God, and you walking in righteousness and peace and love and joy, but it is not something you seek after. It is part of your eternal inheritance. (Hebrews 9:15) His blessings shall come and overtake you. Like a wave in the ocean comes from behind and then curls and lands in front of you. The scripture says the blessings of God will come upon you and overtake you. They come from a direction you cannot see. That is how you are surprised when they come, and you say to yourself. “Wow, look what just happened to me.” That is why you cannot see the blessings, but as you walk with God and obey Him the blessings chase you down and overtake you. God likes to surprise His kids just we like we humans like to do at Christmas time. God doesn’t want your treasure. He wants your heart. That is His eternal treasure. God will bless you so you can be a blessing and He will guide you in how to be a blessing. You are here on planet earth for a little while and then you shall be gone. Only one life, it will soon be past. Only what you do with Christ will last. Give your heart to God. Come to God in the name of Jesus and pray unto Him. God will hear your prayer and bless you so much that you won’t have room to receive it and it will be forever. God will prove Himself to you and you will glorify Him. All He asks is that you give Him ten percent of what He blesses you with to be a blessing to others. He even tells us to let Him prove it to us. Amen

And it shall come to pass, if you shall hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD your God, to observe and to do all His commandments which I command you this day, that the LORD thy God will set you on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on you, and overtake you, if you shall hearken unto the voice of the LORD your God. Blessed shallyou be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, and the fruit of your ground, and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your kine, and the flocks of your sheep. Blessed shall be your basket and your store. Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out. The LORD shall cause your enemies that rise up against you to be smitten before your face: they shall come out against you one way, and flee before you seven ways. The LORD shall command the blessing upon you in your storehouses, and in all that you set your hand unto; and He shall bless you in the land which the LORD your God gives you. The LORD shall establish you as a holy people unto Himself, as He has sworn unto you, if you shall keep the commandments of the LORD your God, and walk in His ways. And all people of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of you. And the LORD shall make you plenteous in goods, in the fruit of your body, and in the fruit of your cattle, and in the fruit of your ground, in the land which the LORD swore unto your fathers to give you. The LORD shall open unto you His good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto your land in his season, and to bless all the work of your hand: and you shall lend unto many nations, and you shalt not borrow. And the LORD shall make you the head, and not the tail; and you shalt be above only, and you shall not be beneath; if that you hearken unto the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day, to observe and to do them: And you shall not go aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them. (Deuteronomy 28:1-14)

These words are the words of God to Israel, but because they are God’s words, they are eternal and they are covenant blessings to all believers who walk in the attitudes of this passage of scripture. God is the one who blesses us and not just we ourselves. God does exceedingly, abundantly above all we can ask or think. (Ephesians 3:20-21) Jesus never took any wages and for three and a half years in the ministry, He didn’t even have a place to lay His head, but God was with Him and God provided for Him and His disciples. That’s prosperity! God just asks us to be a blessing by bringing in the tithes so people who are in need will have some of their needs met. Can you see how God likes to provide for us and bless us? It is part of the royal inheritance of God’s people. After all, God is the creator, the giver and the blesser of all mankind and this truth is the crown of His eternal kingdom.

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. (3 John 2)

There you are. God said it. He wants us all to prosper and be healthy, and it is dependent upon our soul prospering. Prosperity coming to you in your heart, in your mind, in your finances, and ministry; that the anointing of the Holy Spirit propels you forward into great success in life. God wants you to be fruitful in the many callings that Jesus has given you, whether it be ministry, or computer science or whatever.

Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

God even challenges you to prove Him. He says when you take care of His house He will take care of yours and when God blesses you there won’t be enough room to receive it. So we are not building our own kingdom, but we are really serving God as citizens of His kingdom where Jesus is the King and even how we distribute His blessings upon our families is God’s concern. Walking with God, believing God, depending upon God and obeying God like our father Abraham, now that is the true prosperity system.
