Bless the Lord, O my soul: and ALL THAT IS WITHIN ME, bless His holy name.
This is the proper attitude towards Jesus, the King of Kings and the ruler of Heaven and soon to be earth. Jesus left Heaven and came to earth by virgin birth, to live the perfect life to fulfill the Law of God for us and give His life as a ransom for us. (John 15:13, Mark 10:45) Then Jesus suffered and died upon the cross and rose from the dead for every soul that believes in Him. We should bless Him and praise Him day and night. (Psalm 134:3) How do we bless Jesus with all our hearts? We bless Him by speaking words of thanks all the day long. We bless Him by eating His flesh and drinking His blood and living by Him. He was our substitute in death and He is now our substitute in life as we learn to live BY HIM. (John 6:54-58) We should be exalting our hearts towards Jesus with all our beings for the good things He has done for us. (Psalm 63:3) Many of these things are really beyond our ability to fully comprehend without God’s help. That is why Jesus gives us His Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth so we can prepare ourselves for our eternal inheritance in Heaven. Since when have you ever heard of a King on earth that everyone praises with all their hearts. Jesus was the King of Heaven and He came to earth to redeem us from Satan’s powers of death (Hebrews 2:14-15) and from the curse of Satan’s dominion forced upon us by his group of rulers of the darkness of this world. (Ephesians 6:12) Jesus has risen from the dead and He is Lord of Heaven and earth. At the appointed time He will return to earth and all believers will be His people. We should bless him with all our hearts, all our minds, all our souls and all our strength as we lear to live by Him. (John 6:57) I didn’t say we should live for Him. I said we should live by Him. He was our substitute in death and He is now our substitute in life.(Mark 12:30-32) Jesus is alive! He has conquered Satan’s powers of death for us and even His name has authority in Heaven and earth. (John 14:13-14)
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and FORGET NOT all His benefits:
When you bless the Lord Jesus, you are reminding Him of how much you appreciate the wonderful things He has done for you. (Psalm 103:1-2) He has done such wonderful things for us that our minds can barely comprehend it all. The first thing we should do when we wake up and when we go to sleep is remind ourselves of how good God is and how much Jesus loves us and how much His Holy Spirit wants to guide us into all Truth and show us things to come. His benefit package is supernatural, eternal and beyond all that we can ask or think! We should rehearse every day and not forget all the wonderful things He has brought to pass in our lives.
Who FORGIVES all thine iniquities; who HEALS all thy diseases;
This is the first thing Jesus has done for us. God’s mercy and love towards sinners is the ultimate gift. He had to forgive us before He could do anything else. He also had to heal us before we could be healed. Healing belongs to us. It is the children’s bread. Some things that are not seen are more real than things that are seen. You can believe that God has forgiven your sins, yet perhaps you have a hard time believing that God has healed you of all your diseases. Is that because a sin doesn’t physically hurt? God says that He forgives your sins and heals your diseases. Now what? Faith is what! We have to walk by faith and not by sight. God is pleased when we believe Him instead of our five senses. (2 Corinthians 5:7) So it takes longer in units of time, but the reality is that it is impossible for God to LIE. (Hebrews 6:18) Part of the lesson of Life is that if we just believe everything we see, we will be lost. You can’t see Heaven but the fact is Heaven is more real than planet earth. The God of Heaven created planet earth. Next thought; Why does God forgive all our sins? God is perfect in His justice, yet He is perfect in His love. The answer is; God sent Jesus from Heaven to earth to take your punishment for sin. God is JUST towards Jesus in forgiving your sins and He is MERCIFUL towards you because you believe in Christ. Sickness, disease, death and destruction is not of God, but it is the result of the curse that Satan brought into the world. Jesus not only redeemed us from the judgment of our sins, but He also redeemed us from the curse of sin, which is death, disease, destruction and Hell. The earth is the Lord’s and all that dwell therein. (Psalm 24:1) God isn’t done with the human race yet. God takes pleasure forgiving us, healing us, delivering us from our bondage to Satan’s lies and his powers of death and destruction over humanity. God loves us and He gave Jesus over to death in order to redeem us and then He raised Jesus from the dead to save us and bring us unto Heaven. God is good and His mercy endures forever. That is also hard for the natural man to believe, but for the spiritual man it makes perfect sense for God to do impossible things for us because He loves us.
Who REDEEMS your life from destruction; who CROWNS you with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
Jesus came from Heaven to earth through virgin birth to be our redeemer so we could know Him as our savior. Jesus lived a perfect life on earth to fulfill the Law of God for us. Upon the cross as our substitute, Jesus shed His precious innocent blood for the remission of our sins and took the punishment we deserve to satisfy God’s divine justice on our behalf. He died our death He purchase God’s mercy towards us. Through His resurrection Jesus destroyed Satan’s powers of death and took back the dominion from Satan so we could born again of His Spirit, live by His divine nature and receive an eternal inheritance in Heaven. (Hebrews 2:14) As the seed of the woman and the seed of Abraham, Jesus has fulfilled God’s blood covenant with Abraham for us. Everything Jesus did from His birth to His resurrection, He did for us. Those are a few things Jesus did for us are our redeemer. Now we can be saved from certain destruction as we come to know Him as our savior and the power of His resurrection. (Philippians 3:10) In Him we are born again and become citizens of His heavenly kingdom. In Him we are saved from Satan’s powers of death and dominion over our lives. In Him we can receive the knowledge of Truth. In Him we can be born again of His Spirit, become healed of our diseases, and be saved from our enemies as we learn to live by Him and walk with God through Christ in us. We should not forget all of God’s benefits for believer’s in Christ?
Who SATISFIES thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is RENEWED like the eagle’s.
Those of us who understand the truth that is revealed by His Holy Spirit are overwhelmed by His goodness to such a degree that we feel like we are in our youth even in old age. He supernaturally renews our strength as we learn to live by Him so we can live our lives to the fullest.
The Lord EXECUTES righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.
He made known His ways unto Moses, His acts unto the children of Israel.
The Lord is MERCIFUL and GRACIOUS, slow to anger, and PLENTIOUS in mercy.
He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger forever.
He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
As far as the east is from the west, so far hath He removed our transgressions from us.
Like as a father pitieth His children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.
For He knoweth our frame; He remembereth that we are dust.
As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.
For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.
But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear Him, and His righteousness unto children’s children;
To such as keep His covenant, and to those that remember His commandments to do them.
The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and His kingdom ruleth over all.
Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.
Bless ye the Lord, all ye His hosts; ye ministers of His, that do his pleasure.
Bless the Lord, all His works in all places of His dominion: bless the Lord, O my soul.
